Is there a quick test for TB? ›

A rapid sputum tests is used to diagnose tuberculosis (TB) when other tests show that a person probably has TB. Rapid sputum tests are also called nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs). One of the best ways to diagnose TB is through a sputum culture.

The test may be done at any local health department, primary care clinic, doctors office, CVS, Walgreens etc.

Interpreting test results. The skin test reaction should be read between 48 and 72 hours after administration by a health care worker trained to read TB skin results.
